OPEN LECTURE BY PROFESSOR YURII KUCHYN “SEPSIS AND SEPTIC SHOCK: BASIC CONCEPT”

The open lecture in anesthesiology “Sepsis and septic shock: basic concepts”, which was held by Professor Yurii Kuchyn, with participation of interns-anesthesiologist and professors and teachers, took place on 19, January, 2018 in morphological building at O.O. Bogomolets NMU.

This first lecture, which corresponds to the requirements of order No 14, dd. 17.01.2018 “About events to improve the training and to perform the lectures at University”. The order was discussed and supported by participants in educational training for teachers as to preparation and establishment of modern lecture. Now over 200 teachers passed through study. Within the course the teachers discussed the urgent questions, how to make a lecture not just interesting but such one so that a student would take an active part in it and the study would be efficient. In particular, they emphasized the main requirements to preparatory stage of lecture, requirements to structure of lecture and the requirements to presentation of lecture.

During the lecture Professor Yurii Kuchyn performed the demonstration of interesting clinical case, formed the concept about sepsis, and considered the clinical criteria in details, the modern concept about treatment and use of English speaking primary sources. The significant attention was paid to communication of teacher with audience. Yurii Leonidovych showed how during a lecture it is possible to involve the audience into information, which is provided. And in its turn this makes a lecture interactive and the study – efficient.

After completion of lecture rector Kateryna Amosova made the report “Why shall we modernize our lecturing study?”, which she devoted to the issues about modernization in educational process according to the best practices in medical schools all over the world. “Today the world puts the question, whether it is worth spending the time for reading lectures in medical education, and what is its efficiency. Thus, the content and form of teaching shall conform to the challenges of the time, and the aggiornamento of study improves its efficiency. And on the example of this lecture we saw the clearly formulated educational purposes, which at once orient the audience to what they shall take from lecture to acquire the competencies”, – mentioned Professor Kateryna Amosova.
