VІ (68) INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC PRACTICAL CONGRESS “URGENT PROBLEMS OF MODERN MEDICINE”

Annual youth scientific congress, the largest in the territory of Eastern Europe – VI (68) International scientific practical congress of students and young scientists “Urgent problems of modern medicine”, was held on 15-17, October, 2014 at Bogomolets National medical university.

It is pleasant to mention that this year the level of conference has significantly increased, and it attracts more and more attention of youth: 542 students and young scientists from 25 establishments took part in it, among them 5 foreign and 20 national higher schools were represented. The guests from different countries (Austria, Bahrain, Bulgaria, Iran, Cyprus, Kuwait, Lithuania, Nigeria, Republic of Poland, Russian Federation, France, and Ukraine) became the participants in 27 section meetings and 12 master classes.

The congress started its work with the solemn opening ceremony in P.M. Buyko lecture hall No 1 in morphological building. The extraordinary important innovation of congress this year was the performance of parallel lectures by leading specialists in the sphere of medicine, which took place after opening ceremony. Students had the unique possibility to listen to the material about solution of urgent problems in such spheres of medicine as orthopedics and nephrology, to join to discussion on issue of vaccination.

Chief extraordinary specialist of MHC of Ukraine in specialty “Children’s nephrology”, professor D.D. Ivanov presented the lecture on topic “Urgent problems of nephrology”. The medical expert of UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) K. Bulavinova also made the speech, she told about urgent issues of vaccination and treatment of such disease as poliomyelitis in the interactive form. The third but not less interesting was the lecture by head at department of “Pediatric surgery”, professor A.F. Levytskyy about treatment of scoliotic deformations at children.

The work of section meetings started next day. 27 thematic meetings discussed the urgent issues of etiology, pathogenesis, diagnostics, treatment and prevention of various social important diseases, problems to build up health care system of Ukraine and other countries in the world, research of properties and mechanisms of action of different drugs, high technologies in medicine, psychological and humanitarian aspects in activity of doctors. It should be mentioned that the direction “Medical law” was held for the first time and it was represented by honorary gust from Yagellon university G. Glianovskyy.

The moderators of section, famous scientists of Bogomolets National medical university, in particular 15 academicians and corresponding members in NAS, NAMS and NAPS of Ukraine and over 60 professors selected 29 absolute winners of congress and almost 150 young scientists, who were awarded with diploma for the best work.

The tradition for publication of works by all participants in “Ukrainian scientific medical youth journal” – the only special edition in our country every year acquires more and more authority and popularity both among youth and professor environment.

12 master classes that concerned different practical aspects were also held under supervision of leading scientists from Bogomolets National medical university. All meetings were held at high professional level, this fact was emphasized by national and foreign participants for many times.

Our colleagues from other establishments also took part in organization of some master classes. Thus, at the training on pediatric echocardiography, which was held on the base of Scientific practical medical center of pediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery at MHC of Ukraine, the specialists of establishment helped the young scientists to master the basic skills in work with echocardiograph and to learn the principles of this methodology.

The participants in master class “Methods for definition and study of pain sensitivity” got acquainted with the laboratory on study of the pain, mechanisms on appearance of pain, and some methodologies on study of different kinds of pain sensitivity and took part in definition of different kinds of sensitivity.

The master classes on issues of minimally invasive surgery and principles and techniques of local plastic operations, at which the participants got acquainted with modern laparoscopic tools, improved the practical skills at laparoscopic simulators, as well as learnt the principles and techniques of operations in facial surgery, gathered the most participants.

The main results were summed up at the solemn closing ceremony for the work of congress. The winners were awarded with the diplomas of the first degree and valuable gifts and the leading national scientists at the head of rector, corresponding member in NAMS of Ukraine, professor K.M. Amosova, corresponding member in NAMS of Ukraine, professor Yu.B. Chaykovskyy and professor O.A. Burianov, as well as the guests from other higher medical schools of Ukraine and all over the world shared their impressions about scientific forum and wished all present participant further successes in the field of science.

During staying the participants of congress in Kyiv the organizers prepared the very intensive cultural and entertainment program: the guests of the capital got acquainted with the beauty of ancient city, visited its famous places.

Summing up all the abovementioned, we can state that the memories about these three incredible busy days will remain in our memory for a long time. Having left for their native homes, the participants have been looking forward to the regular meeting, which will undoubtedly take place in the walls of the flagman of national education and science next year.
