UKRAINIAN BRAZIL COOPERATION IN THE SPHERE OF FACIAL SURGERY

The presentation of project “Smile Ukraine” was held on 15, February, 2016 on the base of department of surgical dentistry and facial surgery of children’s age at O.O. Bohomolets National medical university (Children’s clinical hospital No 7 in Pecherskyy district of city Kyiv).

The event was held within bilateral agreement between O.O. Bohomolets National medical university, Itauni University and San Paolo University (Brazil). The project aims to treat the patients with deformations of facial area, and, in particular, non-union of palate and upper lip. The project is financed at the expense of the grant from international charitable organization Rotari.

The following specialists in facial surgery, implantology and prosthesis from Brazil took part in the presentation of the project: Saulo Borhes, Serhio Monteyro Lima, Fernanda Brazil daura Horhe Boos, Teo Peres Kolferai, Paulu Hemerson de Moraish, as well as chairman in Percherskyy district state administration in city Kyiv Serhii Martynchuk, administration of O.O. Bohomolets NMU and employees at department of surgical dentistry and facial surgery of children’s age; representatives from Rotari Club of France, Brazil and Ukraine; administration of Children’s clinical hospital No 7.

The purpose for implementation of project is to acquaint Ukrainian doctors, facial surgeons with organization and function of Rehabilitation hospital for facial abnormalities (San Paulo University, Brazil) and to share this experience in Ukraine; to train the specialists in operative techniques and technologies in order to improve the quality and results from operations at children with non-unity of palate and orthognathic disorders. As well, the project “Smile Ukraine” aims to implement the facial and cephalometric analysis in planning the treatment and to assess its results, to acquaint with the work of documentation center of hospital in Brazil and to open such center at Children’s clinical hospital No 7 in c. Kyiv.

Within the cooperation it is anticipated to establish the training system for students, doctors, logopedists, dentists and orthodontists on treatment and further rehabilitation of patients with deformations of facial area; to assist to cooperation between doctors, dentists, social workers, logopedists, psychologists and different medical establishments in the process for treatment of children with non-unity of palate; to perform the basic and advanced courses (theoretical and practical) as to treatment of non-unity of palate and orthognathic surgery; to perform the operations at two Ukrainian girls with serious disorders of facial area together with the employees at department of surgical dentistry and facial surgery of children’s age of NMU.

As well, on 19, February, 2016, the doctors from Brazil read the lectures for teachers, interns and students of senior courses in dental faculty in the conference hall of Dental center at O.O. Bohomolets National medical university. The lecturers told about variety of deformations of facial area, peculiarities for diagnostics and treatment, technique for operating the patients with such deformations, the newest developments in implantology and prosthesis.
