NMU’S PARTICIPATION IN THE 24TH INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION ‘PUBLIC HEALTH 2015’
An exhibition ‘Healthcare 2015’ was held on 29th of September – 1st of October 2015 at the International Exhibition Center. The event is one of the largest forums, collecting more than 350 leading manufacturers and distributors of innovative medical devices, services and drugs from Ukraine, the EU, China, and promotes the search, expansion and strengthening partnerships between professionals involved in the development of medical innovations and their commercialization.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Ukrainian Association of Senior Doctors of the Kyiv City State Administration supported the exhibition. Co-organizer of the exhibition is the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Innovative developments of NMU’s scientists were presented at information stands. Scientists of the department of Traumatology and Orthopedics presented a prototype of rubber splint for transport immobilization, which was developed jointly with specialists of the Institute of Electric Welding named after Ye.O. Paton of the NAS of Ukraine and its characteristics can be used in care delivery in terms of military operations. This pattern has caused a great interest among the visitors, including the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Healthcare Olga Bogomolets. Prospects for launch of serial production of this splint for transport immobilization were discussed by Professor O.A. Buryanov (Head of the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics of the NMU), M.V. Yurzhenko (Head of subdepartment of plastic welding of the Institute of Electric Welding named after Ye.O. Paton) and T.A. Merkulova (plant manager ‘Grand Marine’). In addition, Professor M.V. Khaytovych and N.M. Myahka (Department of Clinical Pharmacology of the NMU) presented a mobile application based on Android “Hypertension. Doctor’s guide’, a joint development with the company KM-Lab. A conference ‘Transfer of new technologies into medical practice of health care industry of Ukraine’ was held during the exhibition. Scientists of the NMU presented 28 presentations, which innovations were shown, and some reports were accompanied by a demonstration of prototypes. In particular, the report of professors O.P. Vitovsky, A.S. Takha (Department of Ophthalmology of the NMU) and academician I.V. Plyuto (National Aviation University) demonstrated device-control test the retina, which all the participants can use during the conference. Associate professor Ya.Yu. Homza (Department of Otorhinolaryngology) demonstrated a sample of silicon tubes for caloric vestibular stimulation, which may be used in the rehabilitation of patients with ischemic stroke. Professor E.M. Shepetko (Department of Surgery No.3 of the NMU) presented promising innovations on colon surgery, Associate professor P.F. Muzychenko (Department of Operative and Topographical Anatomy) – on electric welding of tissues. In general, each report aroused interest among present participants and each of them was accompanied by discussions.
