THE STUDENT OF UNIVERSITY OLESYA ZHUKOVSKA IS AWARDED WITH THE ORDER “FOR COURAGE”
On 18, February, 2016 the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko awarded the students of the 3rd course in medical faculty No 2 at O.O. Bohomolets National medical university with the order “For courage”.
The active members, who were wounded during Revolution of Dignity, were awarded on occasion of the second anniversary for the victory of Maydan. Olesya Zhukovska since December, 2013 was on duty in Maydan – delivered the drugs, consulted the patients in KCSA. On 20, February, 2014 she was wounded, the sniper hit the girl’s neck.
Volunteer-medical worker Olesya was saved in Kyiv hospital No 17. Fortunately, the sniper’s bullet passed clear through the neck, the activist remained alive.
The student remembered the events of two years ago for the whole life: “On 20, February, since the morning we were standing with the activists and medical men near the stela to Archistratigus Michael. The shot was nearby, I had no pain, I heard no noise and I did not understand what had happened. The reaction of surrounding people feared – nearby there was a boy with the widely open eyes: “Sunny, the sniper has wounded you”, – he whispered and took me in hands. I looked at myself – the hands and the white coat were in blood. I was hot, to sleep, the forces have left me… I felt that I was dying”, – told Olesya.
The post of student-volunteer “I am dying” shocked the social networks; unknown people supported the girl and sincerely sympathized to her”.
After recovery and victory of Maydan Olesya Zhukovska along with the other active members visited Paris, the President Olland. After return she decided to stay in Kyiv and to continue the study – now the girl studies at the 3rd course of medical faculty No 2 at O.O. Bohomolets National medical university.
Already in 2015, the native of Ternopil region, and now Kievan Olesya Zhukovska became the laureate of the first personal Volodymyr Yurychko scholarship.
Since that time many things have changed – the student diligently studies and lives not only for herself but for those ones, who heroically perished in Maydan and remained in our memory as Nebesna Sotnya.
