START FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF INTERNATIONAL ACADEMIC PROJECT

O.O. Bohomolets National medical university started the international project under direction “Development of certified academic program in the sphere of public health care”, which will be performed within the implementation of USAID Project “Reform of HIV-services” under support of Deloitte Consulting Overseas Projects LLС together with PO “Ukrainian center of family medicine” and California state University, San-Francisco (USA).

USAID Project “Reform of HIV-services”, directed to provide with national stable, integrated, gender sensitive and stigma free response to HIV-infection/AIDS epidemics in Ukraine through prioritization and optimization of services, in particular, for the most sensitive groups of population, improvement of state financing the health care sector and consolidation of systems and human resources in the sphere of HIV. The project plans to develop and to implement the program of academic course in the sphere of public health in format of 1 month cycle of field-specific improvement in order to provide with achievement of this purpose. It is planned to develop the mentioned program during next some months and to perform the first pilot conduct of academic course in autumn semester of 2016.

Out international partner – California University, San-Francisco (USA), was elected last week by American party due to the contest for participation in this project. The representatives from California University, San-Francisco were in Kyiv with the first working visit during the period since 6 until 10, June, 2016 in order to agree the working plans and further activity within the project.

On 9, June, 2016 the rector of O.O. Bohomolets NMU, corresponding member in NAMS of Ukraine, professor Amosova K.M. met with the representatives of California University, San-Francisco (USA), during which they concluded the Agreement about international cooperation between the main contractors of project that also anticipates the continuation of academic cooperation after completion of this project.

In order to provide with the strategic management for fulfillment of the project they established the Coordination Council with participation of Rector in O.O. Bohomolets NMU, corresponding member in NAMS of Ukraine, professor Amosova K.M., first pro-rector on scientific pedagogical work, professor Tsekhmister Ya.V., pro-rector on international relations and scientific pedagogical work, professor Lynovytska O.V., director in Ukrainian training center of family medicine of NMU, assistant professor Vysotska O.I., head at department of infectious diseases, professor Golubovska O.A., chief extraordinary specialist at MHC of Ukraine in specialty “infectious diseases”, head at department of epidemiology, professor Kolesnikova I.P., chief extraordinary specialist at MHC of Ukraine in specialty “epidemiology”, head at department of health care management, professor Pariy V.D., head at department of Phthisiology and pulmonology, professor Petrenko V.I. The Coordination Council also included, due to agreement, director in Department of public health at MHC of Ukraine Ostashko S.I., temporary acting chief state sanitary doctor of Ukraine Protas S.V., deputy director in SE “Ukrainian center of control for social dangerous diseases at MHC of Ukraine” Karanda V.I., director in health care department at executive authority of Kyiv city council (Kyiv city state administration) Donchenko S.M. and representatives from Bureau of WHO in Ukraine, Delegation of European Union in Ukraine, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the USA (CDC) in Ukraine, office of health care of regional mission of US Agency for International Development (USAID) in Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova, ICF “Revival”, ICF “International Alliance of public health”, international center of education and training on issues of health care at Washington University (I-TECH/UW), VBO “Network of people that live with HIV”, VBO “Ukrainian institute of researches of policy in public health”, PO “Infectious control in Ukraine”.

The nearest tasks of the project include the discussion of assessment on needs of Ukrainian party, performed by representatives from California University, San-Francisco, and determination of methodic approaches to development of academic program, which implementation will assist to formation and consolidation in development of human resources in newly established sphere of public health in Ukraine.
